Whether you're a beginner or seasoned investor, if you're evaluating the possibility of using a stock market system and you're not yet familiar with trend trading basics especially the exchange-traded fund (ETF), then I hope this will serve as a little education or at least offer some basic stock trading strategy and inspiration.
Basic Comparison: Stocks vs. ETF's
First, seriously..and I mean seriously research and evaluate trading ETF's vs. Stocks. Of all the places you can spend your time learning, you will come out ahead if you spend it learning how to identify trends. As of recent the stock market 'tool for this trade' has been the ETF.
The astonishing increase in ETFs popularity since its inception alone is brow raising and according to Forbes.com total assets held in exchange-traded funds have now (11/09) increased to nearly $700 billion! And there are reasons to believe the number of ETF's will double or triple before any trace of slowdown occurs.

Basic Stock Market Training: ETF's
An ETF is made up of a basket of stocks that trades on an exchange with the same simplicity and liquidity of an individual stock. Basic Stock Market Training: ETF's
In the end owning a basket of securities is much more comfortable as opposed to owning a few individual stocks.
And of course owning those few stocks assumes you're able to face the challenges that every individual investor faces in that there are a myriad of products to choose from, most of which are inappropriate for ordinary investors. Then there's transaction costs from buying and selling, the uncertainty of the latest news just issued, etc..
With ETFs, you're not worried about all that. You don't have to worry that your stock holding will drawdown 30% after unexpected news is issued. Due to an ETFs holdings diversification, price movement is more predictable when compared to individual stocks. Most students that follow even a simple ETF trend trading course will focus on trends within a few sectors as opposed to the hundreds of various stocks that put most traders on scatter.
Basic Stock Trading Advice: Get good at identifying a trend and just focus.
